225g/8oz Odlums Coarse Wholemeal 125g/4oz Odlums Cream Plain flour 1 Teaspoon Odlums Bread Soda (sieved) 75g/3oz Odlums Pinhead 50g/2oz Odlums Wheat Bran 50g/2oz Odlums Wheatgerm 3/4 pt /  Buttermilk 2 Tablespoons Honey 50g/2oz Shamrock Flaked Almonds


  1. Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas 4. Lightly grease base and sides of a 7”/ 18cms square tin.
  2. Put the wholemeal, cream flour, bread soda, pinhead, bran and wheatgerm into a large mixing bowl. Mix well to combine all the dry ingredients.
  3. Add the honey and buttermilk. Stir well to form a dough.
  4. Transfer to the prepared tin. Smooth top with the back of a spoon dipped in water. Make a cross on the top.
  5. Sprinkle over the flaked almonds.
  6. Bake for about 50 minutes until risen and golden brown on top.
  7. Turn onto a clean tea towel and then turn up onto a wire tray to cool.
