- 500g/1lb Odlums Cream Plain Flour
- 2 tablespoons Treacle
- 7 fl oz Milk (approx)
- 2 tablespoons Shamrock Golden Caster Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Cream of Tarter
- 1 teaspoon Odlums Bread Soda
- Good pinch of Goodall’s Ground Ginger
- 125g/4oz Shamrock Sultanas
- Preheat oven to 200°C/400°F/Gas 6. Lightly dust a cake tin or flat baking sheet with flour.
- Heat the treacle and milk over a low heat. Mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl.
- Add sufficient liquid to mix to a soft dough.
- Turn onto a floured surface and lightly knead. Shape into a round and place in prepared tin, make a cross on the top of dough.
- Place into preheated oven and bake for about 40 minutes. Wrap in a clean tea towel until cold.
