What you need:

  • 150g/5oz Odlums Self Raising Flour
  • 450g/1lb Cooking Apples, peeled,cored and sliced
  • 75g/3oz Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • 75g/3oz Butter (room temperature)
  • 75g/3oz Shamrock Golden Caster Sugar
  • 1 Egg, beaten
  • 3 tablespoons Milk
  • 25g/1oz Shamrock Flaked Almonds (optional)

How to:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas 4. Grease an 850ml/1½ pint ovenproof dish.
  2. Mix the apples with the granulated sugar and lemon juice.
  3. Spoon the mixture into the prepared dish.
  4. In a bowl, beat together the flour, butter, caster sugar, egg and milk to give a soft dropping consistency.
  5. Spread this over the apples and sprinkle with the flaked almonds, if used.
  6. Bake for about 40 minutes or until sponge is golden brown.

Note

  • Serve hot or cold. Delicious served hot with custard, cream or ice cream.
