Important – children’s data: This competition involves the data of minors. Under Ireland’s Data Protection Act 2018, the digital age of consent is 16. Since children of all ages may enter, all data processing must be authorised by a parent or legal guardian.

Photo and video consent must be separate from and independent of competition entry consent – making it a condition of entry would render it invalid under GDPR Article 7(4).

Registration form checkboxes

Copy for use on the initial entry/registration form

CHECKBOX 1 OF 5
Required

I confirm that I am the parent or legal guardian of the child being entered into this competition, that I am aged 18 years or over, and that I have the authority to enter this competition on the child’s behalf.

This checkbox establishes parental/guardian authority – a prerequisite for all subsequent consents. It must be presented first and cannot be grouped with other checkboxes.

CHECKBOX 2 OF 5
Required

I have read and agree to the Competition Terms & Conditions. I understand that my child’s entry must feature a bake made from a recipe on Odlums.ie, and that the promoter’s decision is final.

Link must open the full T&Cs in a new tab or modal before the parent can tick this box. Do not pre-tick.

CHECKBOX 3 OF 5
Required

I have read and agree to the Privacy Notice. I consent to Odlums collecting and processing the personal data provided in this form (including my child’s first name and age) for the sole purpose of administering the Baking Competition 2026, sending a confirmation email, and issuing a certificate of participation. I understand I may withdraw this consent at any time by contacting privacy@odlums.ie, and that withdrawing consent will mean my child’s entry cannot be processed.

This covers the core data processing required to run the competition. Lawful basis: Consent (Article 6(1)(a)). Since a child’s data is involved, parental consent is the mechanism. Do not pre-tick.

CHECKBOX 4 OF 5
Optional – separate consent

I consent to Odlums displaying my child’s first name, and submitted photo or video on the Odlums.ie website (including the Bake Club winners area), and on Odlums’ official social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter), for the purpose of announcing competition results and celebrating entries. I understand this consent is entirely optional, does not affect my child’s chances of winning, and can be withdrawn at any time by contacting privacy@odlums.ie.

This is a separate, specific, and optional consent for display/promotional use. It must be clearly separate from the entry consent above. If not ticked, the child may still win – winners without this consent can be announced by first name and county only, without photos. Record the date/time-stamp of this consent in your database.

CHECKBOX 5 OF 5
Optional – marketing

I would like to receive recipes, baking tips, competitions, and news from Odlums by email. I understand I can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by contacting privacy@odlums.ie.

Entirely optional. Lawful basis: Consent (GDPR + ePrivacy Regulations). Must not be pre-ticked. Must be kept as a separate consent record, not bundled with competition entry data. Add to your email marketing platform (e.g. Mailchimp) as a separate audience segment with consent date recorded.

Upload form checkboxes

Copy for use on the photo/video upload page (accessed via unique email link)

The parent already gave core competition consent at registration. The upload form checkboxes are lighter – they confirm the content being uploaded is appropriate and provide a second opportunity to give (or confirm) photo/video display consent.

UPLOAD CHECKBOX 1 OF 3
Required

I confirm that the photo or video I am uploading was taken by me or with my knowledge and consent, that it shows my child’s own bake made from a recipe on Odlums.ie, and that it does not feature any other person without their explicit permission.

This is a content warranty checkbox – it protects Odlums from third-party rights claims. It also ensures the parent takes responsibility for the content they are uploading. Required before upload can proceed.

UPLOAD CHECKBOX 2 OF 3

Required

I confirm that the photo or video does not contain any personal information, branding, or content that I do not wish to share with Odlums, and that the uploaded content is suitable for viewing by a general audience of all ages.

A safety/appropriateness declaration. Simple but important, especially for a children’s competition where content may be displayed publicly.

UPLOAD CHECKBOX 3 OF 3

Optional – display consent (if not given at registration)

I consent to Odlums displaying my child’s first name, and submitted photo or video on the Odlums.ie website (including the Bake Club winners area), and on Odlums’ official social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter), for the purpose of announcing competition results and celebrating entries. I understand this consent is entirely optional, does not affect my child’s chances of winning, and can be withdrawn at any time by contacting privacy@odlums.ie.
