Recipe Steps
- Start by adding the plain flour, yeast, caster sugar, egg, milk, lukewarm water, and sea salt to your mixing bowl. With the dough hook in the stand mixer place it on medium speed for 10 minutes.
- 5 minutes into the mixing, add the butter cubes and allow them to mix through.
- Once nicely mixed, cover the bowl with cling film to prove for 2 hours at room temperature or overnight in the fridge.
- Once the dough is ready take it out onto a nicely floured surface. Flour the top of the dough and using your hands press it out into a rectangular shape half an inch in thickness.
- Cut using a pizza cutter, cut nice rectangular shapes. You should get 15-20 portions.
- Fry the beignets in hot oil for 2-3 mins on each side on medium heat. Drain onto some kitchen paper.
- Transfer to a place and dust heavily with the icing sugar and serve immediately. Enjoy.
