Easter Bunny Churros

What you need

  • 125 g (1 cup) Odlums plain flour
  • 100 g granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon (for coating)
  • 240 ml (1 cup) water
  • 55 g unsalted butter, diced
  • 15 g (1 tbsp) granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp Goodalls vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Chocolate drizzle & sprinkles (for topping)

Recipe Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon for the churro coating.
  2. Heat about 5 cm of vegetable oil in a pot to 180°C.
  3. In a saucepan, add water, butter, sugar and salt. Bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat and add flour. Stir until smooth and combined.
  5. Transfer to a bowl and let cool for 5 minutes.
  6. Add egg and vanilla, then mix immediately with an electric mixer.
  7. Transfer mixture to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
  8. Pipe churros onto a baking sheet in bunny shapes, then carefully place into hot oil.
  9. Fry until golden brown (about 2 minutes per side).
  10. Remove and drain on paper towels, then coat in cinnamon sugar.
  11. Repeat with remaining dough.
  12. Serve warm with chocolate drizzle and sprinkles.
