What you need:

  • 225g Odlums Self Raising Super Flour
  • 150ml low fat milk
  • pinch of salt
  • 25g sugar
  • 25g margarine
  • milk/egg (optional)

How to:

  1. Preheat oven to 220°C/Fan 200°C/425°F/Gas Mark 8.
  2. Sieve flour and salt into a bowl. Stir in sugar.
  3. Rub in margarine.
  4. Add milk and mix to form a soft dough.
  5. Turn onto a floured worktop and knead lightly, using a sprinkle of flour. Press dough to height of 25mm/1”. Use cutter/beaker to cut out scones. Press trimmings together to use up dough.
  6. Place the scones on floured pre-heated baking tray. Glaze with milk or beaten egg for a golden finish.
  7. Bake on upper shelf for 10 minutes approx.
  8. Transfer to a wire tray to cool.
