Cook Time: 15 - 20 Minutes
What you need
Crumble Topping
- 150g Odlums Porridge Oats
- 150g Odlums Cream Plain Flour
- 125g Shamrock Golden Caster Sugar (a bit less sugar keeps balance)
- 100g Shamrock Ground Almonds (200g made it a bit heavy; 100g keeps a nice nutty note)
- 175g Butter (softened)
- 50g Shamrock Chopped Almonds (optional, for crunch)
Filling
- 450g (1lb) Stewed Apples
- 175g (6oz) Blackberries
- Sugar to sweeten, to taste

Recipe Steps
- Preheat oven to 190°C/375°F/Gas 5. Place the flour, sugar and oats into a bowl.
- Add butter and rub into the dry ingredients with tips of fingers to form a crumble. Mix in the ground almonds and finally stir in the chopped almonds, if used.
- Mix the blackberries and apples together and place in an ovenproof dish. Sweeten with sugar to taste.
- Spread crumble over the fruit, then bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve hot with custard, cream, ice cream, yoghurt or crème fraîche.
To stew apples
- Peel, core and roughly chop apples.
- Place in a saucepan with a little water (3 tablespoons approx) over a low heat, stirring occasionally until apples are softened.
- If liked, add a pinch of cinnamon to the apples when soft.
