Dark Brown Health Bread

What you need

  • 500g/1lb Odlums Brown Soda Bread Mix
  • 2 tablespoons Odlums Pinhead Oats
  • 2 tablespoons Pumpkin Seeds
  • 2 tablespoon Linseed
  • 1 tablespoon Treacle
  • 300ml-450ml/½pt-¾pt Milk

Recipe Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C/375°F/Gas 5. Lightly grease a 450g/1lb loaf tin and dust base and sides with porridge oats.
  2. Put brown bread mix into a bowl. Add the pinhead oats, pumpkin seeds and linseed and mix well.
  3. Warm the treacle and milk together and combine with a fork.
  4. Add to the dry ingredients and mix to a soft (not sloppy!) dough.
  5. Transfer to the prepared tin and bake for about 45 minutes, or until risen and has a hollow sound when tapped underneath. Wrap in a clean tea towel until cold.

Note

Serve with cheese, smoked salmon or soup
