Apple Cake

Cook Time: 40 - 50 Minutes

What you need

  • 225g/8oz Odlums Self Raising Flour
  • 175g/6oz Butter or Margarine
  • 175g/6oz Granulated Sugar
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 level teaspoon Goodall’s Cinnamon (optional)
  • 2 Eating Apples, peeled, cored & roughly chopped

Recipe Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 150°C/300°F/Gas 4. Lightly grease a 2lb/900g loaf tin and line the base with greaseproof paper.
  2. Beat butter/margarine and sugar together.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Sieve in the flour and cinnamon, if used.
  5. Mix in the chopped apples and stir well.
  6. Transfer to prepared tin, level top with back of spoon.
  7. Bake 40-50 minutes in a central oven position until risen and firm to the touch.
  8. Allow to stand in tin for about 5 minutes, then turn onto a wire tray to cool.
