Cook Time: 25 - 30 minutes
What you need
- 500g Odlums strong flour, plus extra for dusting
- 75g caster sugar
- 10g salt
- 325ml milk
- 1 free-range egg, beaten
- 100g of dark chocolate chips
- 10g fast-action dried yeast
To finish
- Golden syrup
- Equal amounts of flour and water are mixed into a paste and placed into a piping bag

Recipe Steps
- Put the flour and sugar into a large bowl and mix them together.
- Then add the salt and yeast, placing them on opposite sides of the bowl so the salt doesn’t kill the yeast.
- Add the milk to the dry ingredients. Add the egg and knead in a stand mixer with a dough hook for 10 mins.
- Leave the dough in the mixing bowl and cover it with cling film for one hour to prove.
- Once proved, knock back the dough punching all the air out.  Now incorporate the chocolate by kneading them into the dough.
- Roll the dough into a sausage shape and cut into 8 even shapes.  
Roll the dough into 8 balls and lay them into the basket of your Airfryer. Cover once again with cling film and leave to prove for a further 20-30mins.
- When the buns have risen, pipe a cross on each bun with the water and flour mixture.
- Bake for 25-30 mins at 190C until nicely browned. As soon as they come out of the brush with golden syrup and let cool before tucking in.
